the other day i got bored while driving around with a friend. On my way to dropping her off at home, she decided it’d be cool to see how far the car could coast. I told her it would go on forever as long as it was in Drive and the road remained flat. But i did like the idea of see how far the car would coast, so i put the car in Neutral. We both tried to guess how far the car would go before it stopped and the loser would have to push the car the rest of the way home (was probably about 15-20 houses away). I guessed right and she lost. Being the gentleman that i am, i didn’t make her push the car home, but i did get another idea. I wanted to see how fast i could push the car so i told her to get into the driver seat and watch how fast the car was moving. I got out and pushed. First try i got up to 10km/h and my max speed was about 12km/hr. How exciting! It’s a good leg workout, so if your looking to get nice firm legs, push your car around the block a couple times.

Mentos
…so if anyone wants to clean up my room, i really wouldn’t mind that either…it’s getting kinda annoying to hop and skip over everything to get from one place to another (however much i may have vowed to exercise more this yr…)

Mr. Babaganoush
(before we start, i hope the following doesn’t offend anyone because that isn’t the reason i posted this. It’s all in good fun. No hard feeling to anyone. I realize by posting this i may just be digging myself into a deeper hole, but what the hell.)
here we go.
First off, I wasn’t trying to “reinforce gender norms” It was just a little playful bet and even if I had made it with a male occupant I wouldn’t have made him get out and push. Female or male, it wouldn’t have changed the outcome.
I guess the problem stems from me saying “being the gentleman..” For that I am sorry. I retract that statement.
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t see women has helpless beings that constantly need helping and saving by a big strong male. I know females are strong and independent. I guess I just like to treat women like the queens they are. Also, I never said there was anything wrong with a woman pushing a car. That is something you assumed from my posting. If you want to come push my car, be my guest. On the other hand, if I was physically able to push a car I wouldn’t want a close female friend push my car. Not saying I wouldn’t let her because I don’t think she was able to, just that I see no reason for her to push if I was able to. Once again this holds true regardless if it was a male or a female. I guess I just have problems accepting help from others if I don’t need it and some will tell you I have problems accepting help. Period.
I also never said I didn’t let her push the car because I wanted to protect her. What would I be protecting her from?
Furthermore, just to let the shit hit the fan, males are stronger than females. If we are talking about strength with respect to pure muscle power (for a lack of a better term), men are generally stronger. And in this case (pushing a car), this type of strength is required. Human nature dictates that individuals best suited for a particular job should naturally be the ones chosen to perform that job. Pushing a car requires muscle power and therefore if there is a choice between a male and a female pushing, males would more than likely be chosen. I know there are exceptions to men being stronger than women (ie. Rizwan), but overall, men are stronger. Now, if you’re talking about strength with respect to mental strength or anything other than muscle power, then I agree…women are stronger.
I have no problem with women (I know you never said I did, but this is just for the record). In fact, I’m quite fond of women. Consciously, I don’t think I view women as a weaker race, and as a race that needs protecting. Subconsciously I might…who knows. Point is, I don’t have a mindset that women are a weaker race.

I wanna give my 2 cents. I’m pretty small, so I like when bigger people (male or female) do things for me. Esp. males, cuz I jus think that’s sexy 😉 (I’m attracted to the opposite sex). hehe :). (I don’t mean to offend anyone either. I’m just being completely random and silly right now).

“Being the gentleman that i am, i didn’t make her push the car home”
Don’t you mean “being the bodybuilder that I am”? It makes more sense, given the circumstances. And, there wouldnt be confusion over this ambiguous term “gentleman” which some might take to mean “weak midget” and others, “really nice guy”

Mr. Babaganoush
i agree with u rizwan. It changes from person to person. When shit needs to get done some ppl, male or female, get it done, while others just give up. Case in point, my old man. When he first came to Canada, he worked like a dog (and still does) to get food on the table. My mom is nothing less. Her arm is all but useless (hurt it in an accident at work) yet she still sucks it in and works 7-3, then comes home to make dinner. They’re not killing themselves for their own good…it’s for their children. God bless them.
